Slovakia is a country located in Central Europe, bordering the Czech Republic, Austria, Poland, Ukraine, and Hungary. The country's capital is Bratislava, a city bordering the Czech Republic. Slovakia was ruled by several foreign nations throughout its history, and it would briefly have independence from 1939 to 1945 as a puppet state of Nazi Germany, the Slovak Republic. In May 1945, the Soviet Union liberated Slovakia from the Axis Powers and re-created the old nation of Czechoslovakia as a communist state. On 1 January 1993, Slovakia separated from Czechoslovakia in the "Velvet Divorce", becoming an independent nation. In 2015, the country had a population of 5,426,262 people, and Catholics make up a 65.8% majority. 43% of Slovakia's industrial output are cars, with 1,000,001 cars being manufactured.
