Saito

The Saito was a Japanese samurai clan from Echizen Province. The family was descended from Fujiwara Toshihito, and the family came to control Mino Province in central Honshu. Dosan Saito became a powerful warlord, marrying his daughter No to Nobunaga Oda. He died in battle with his own son Yoshitatsu Saito, whose son Tatsuoki Saito became known as a drunkard who was unable to govern. Hanbei Takenaka seized control of Inabayama Castle and became the de facto head of the clan, and the Saito were defeated by the Oda at the Battle of Mt. Inaba Castle and subjugated in 1564.
