Lady Ina (1573-27 March 1620), later known as Lady Komatsu, was the daughter of Tadakatsu Honda and the wife of Nobuyuki Sanada. She was known to be very beautiful, intelligent, and skilled at fighting.

Biography[]

Inahime was the daughter of Tadakatsu Honda, and she was adopted by Ieyasu Tokugawa. After witnessing the martial prowess of the Sanada clan at the Siege of Ueda Castle in 1585, Ieyasu had Ina marry Nobuyuki Sanada, the daughter of daimyoMasayuki Sanada.

In 1600, Ina persuaded her husband to side with the Tokugawa clan during the war against Mitsunari Ishida's Western Army, but her brother-in-law, Yukimura Sanada and her father-in-law opposed them. They fought with each other at the Battle of Numata Castle, but Masayuki and Yukimura's victory was negated when news arrived that Mitsunari had been defeated at the Battle of Sekigahara.

Following the battle, Masayuki and Yukimura were exiled, and that Ina saw to it that they were provided for. In 1615, she fought in the Osaka Campaign, during which she fought Yukimura to a draw at the end of the battle, protecting her lord Ieyasu from death. She then watched as Yukimura suicidally to charged the entire Tokugawa army by himself, failing to convince him to surrender. She died in 1620.
