Abdul Raziq Achakzai

Abdul Raziq Achakzai (1979-18 October 2018) was an Afghan National Police chief during the Afghanistan War. He was killed by a Taliban gunman in Kandahar in 2018.

Biography[]

Abdul Raziq Achakzai was born in Spin Boldak, Afghanistan in 1979 to a family of Pashtuns, and he left the country after the Taliban took over, returning after the United States ousted them from power. Raziq became a police chief, but the illiterate and polygamous Raziq committed extrajudicial killings, forced disappearances, and torture in Kandahar. On 18 October 2018, he was killed when a gunman opened fire on security officials as they were leaving a meeting in Kandahar.
